The Perfect Photo vs. the Moment

June 21, 2024

YOUR PERFECT DAY

So you hired your wedding photographer. You’ve booked your wedding venue, chosen your dress, picked out florals and table settings. You’ve made sure everything is perfect and just how you wanted. It’s my job as your photographer to capture the best moments of the most special day of your life, to freeze every perfect second into tangible photographs that you can look back on for the rest of your life.

But there is so much more that goes into it than that. In order to make these beautiful photographs, you must first make beautiful memories. You are surrounded by your favorite people who love and care about you, supporting you as you commit yourself to the love of your life. This is why wedding days are my favorite!

We as wedding photographers have this constant struggle of “Do I get the perfect photo, or do I capture the moment as it is?”

Why not both? Why not the posed photos that are beautiful and get hung up on the wall? Why not the candids of your guests’ eyes filling up with tears as they listen to your vows? Documentary-style wedding photography thrives off these little moments- maybe not the moments that always make it to Instagram but they are just as special. You should be able to look back at your wedding gallery and relive every moments, even the ones that you weren’t there for.

It’s my job to capture every little moment in between the posed photos, and boy do I love my job.
